The P.W. Mini School – Len Drugge Legacy Fund launches with an extraordinary $25,000 donation from an alumnus

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebration, we’ve established the Prince of Wales Mini School – Len Drugge Legacy Fund, named for the innovative, humble, and caring head teacher who created the Mini School in 1973.

Dr. Drugge envisioned a small school community where each student brings his or her unique contributions and has a strong voice in guiding their own learning. Dr. Drugge’s vision for P.W. Mini School has been a model for high school enrichment programs throughout the province.

This fund is a permanent endowment held at the Vancouver Foundation. The Vancouver Foundation is the largest community foundation in Canada which, as one of its services, collects and invests donations on behalf of other registered charities – Prince of Wales, like all public schools in BC, is a registered charity.

Each year, earnings from the fund will be distributed by the Vancouver Foundation back to the Mini School. The money will be used for bursaries for students who need financial help to participate in our school trips and enrichment activities. The fund capital will remain at the Vancouver Foundation as a permanent legacy from all Mini alumni and their families to all future Mini students, for decades to come.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of one alumnus, we are thrilled to announce that our legacy fund is launching with an opening donation of $25,000!

This donation has inspired us to set an initial goal for the fund of at least $50,000, to mark our 40th Anniversary. The earnings from a $50,000 endowment would immediately cover more than half of the Mini’s annual bursary requirements.

Our final target for the fund is $100,000, which will ensure long term and stable bursary support.

Every Mini Counts, Every Dollar Counts

Whether you can contribute with a personal legacy gift of $25 or $25,000, please consider the opportunity that you or your child had at the Mini and how one of the best things about our school is its diversity. Help us keep the Mini School accessible to all capable and talented students in Vancouver, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Charitable donation receipts will be issued by the Vancouver Foundation. To make your donation, please visit www.vancouverfoundation.ca/pwmini.
